Pêcherie Manicouagan stems from a long-standing history of fishing and transformation of seafood products on the Côte-Nord, Québec’s pristine north shore. Based in Baie-Comeau, Pêcherie Manicouagan offers some of the most unique, mouth-watering seafood that can only be found in the fresh waters of the Côte-Nord, including whelks, Stimpson’s Surf Clam, Greenland halibut (Turbot) and snow crab. Indeed, chefs, distributors and customers from as far away as Europe and Asia flock to Pêcherie Manicouagan for the delectable taste and texture of fresh coldwater fish—the world’s absolute finest.
What’s more: we have not only an impressive production capacity so that you can purchase out-of-season seafood year-round but also access to other types of seafood. Indeed we are your reliable, go-to fishing resource!
All of our seafood is sustainably fished right from the St. Lawrence River. Our catches are transformed using innovative and environmentally sustainable process, enabling us to be certified both BRC and HACCP. We control the entire fishing supply chain to provide you with unmatched quality and traceability—all while protecting the environment and ensuring our waters remain safe for local species. Pêcherie Manicouagan works with the local Aboriginal communities of Essipit, Pessamit and Uashat-Maliotenam so that the economic impact of our operations benefits local populations. We operate five fish retailers that provide consumers with a wide variety of in-season and high-quality seafood.
Pêcherie Manicouagan was originally founded in 1983 by two local entrepreneurs, Gilles Gagnon et Jaquelin Savard, who had a mission to have people locally and abroad discover the wonderful freshwater treasures that are teeming in the St. Lawrence River. Today, the company employs 195 people and exports to the rest of Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.
